Tomáš Halík has won this year's Templeton Prize on March 13.

Mons. prof. PhDr. Tomáš Halík, Th.D.

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your congratulations and good wishes for the awarding of the Templeton Prize. For me the prize is not a personal award, but an honor for our entire country, especially for those who have been my moral and intellectual inspirations and guides; for my teachers, who showed their bravery and endurance in the battle for a free culture and faith and who themselves did not live to see freedom and their own awards.

I would like to use the authority that the Templeton Prize confers upon me to increase the culture of dialogue in our world and that is the spirit in which I have decided to use the financial award from this prize.

I apologize that I am not able to respond personally to all your congratulations, but I would like to assure you that I very much appreciate your support.

With best wishes,
